Recording a decision

Record what you chose about something CLEO noticed, in your own words.

Sometimes CLEO keeps pointing at something and you've already thought about it. You looked at the customers past their usual return interval, and you decided: not until spring. Recording a decision is how you write that down, in your own words, so it's part of the record rather than something you have to remember.

Two kinds only

Right now a decision can be recorded about exactly two of the things CLEO notices:

  • A customer past their usual return interval — one customer, or all of the ones CLEO is showing right now.
  • An open lead with no follow-up scheduled — one lead at a time.

Nothing else supports a decision yet. If you try to record one about something CLEO isn't currently pointing at, it declines: CLEO no longer shows that, so there is nothing to decide about.

Where the form is

Two places, the same form:

  • Attention → CLEO noticed, beside the item.
  • The customer's own record, in its CLEO noticed panel.

It's folded away behind Record a decision. Open it, write your decision in the box — Your decision about this, in your words — and press Record decision. Up to 500 characters; the placeholder shows the register CLEO expects: e.g. Leave it until the spring; no need to get in touch.

The form says plainly what will happen: Recorded as your decision, with what CLEO shows now beside it. Nothing else changes — no follow-up, no task.

If you leave the box empty, CLEO says Write the decision before recording it. It will not record an empty decision, and it will not invent one for you.

One customer, or all of them

For customers past their usual return interval there's a second option at the top of that group: Record a decision about all N — with Your decision about these customers, in your words and the same note, Nothing else changes — no follow-ups, no tasks.

A list decision is recorded about the people CLEO was showing at that moment, each with their own fact kept beside them. Anyone CLEO has since stopped showing is left out, and CLEO names them when it confirms, so the decision is never quietly about a different group than the one you were looking at.

Leads work one at a time — there's no "all leads" decision, because CLEO shows those individually.

What CLEO keeps beside your words

Your sentence, and the condition exactly as it stood at that moment: who it was about, what CLEO was showing about each of them, when you decided, and that it was you. That snapshot is the whole point — months later you can see what you knew when you chose.

CLEO stores no judgement. There is no score, no rating, no "was this a good call" — and there never will be from a decision alone.

You cannot edit or delete one

A decision is recorded as it was, and stays that way. Changed your mind? Record a newer one: the same form reads Record a newer decision once a decision exists.

The newest decision is the one shown beside the condition; the earlier ones remain part of the record. Nothing is rewritten.

Through Ask CLEO

You can say it in conversation instead — "record my decision on Ada: leave her until spring". CLEO prepares the decision, shows you the exact words it will record and what it's about, and waits for you to Confirm. Nothing is written until you do.

CLEO will not turn thinking aloud into a decision. A question, a maybe, or musing gets a question back rather than a prepared card — it records a decision only when you've actually stated one. Prepare and Confirm explains the pattern.

The item stays

This catches people out, so it's worth saying once more: recording a decision does not clear the CLEO noticed item. That item follows its own rule and leaves when the record changes — when the customer books, when the lead gets a follow-up. Your decision is shown beside it, marked with the day you made it.
