CLEO usage

Your monthly allowance, what counts towards it, and what keeps working when it runs out.

Asking CLEO questions is included with your business, up to a monthly amount. Settings → CLEO usage shows how much of it you've used, as one percentage: How much of your included CLEO usage you’ve used this month.

No dollars, no technical detail, no per-person breakdown — one number for the business, and the day it goes back to zero.

What counts

Under What counts, CLEO lists it plainly:

  • Questions you ask CLEO, typed or spoken.
  • Replies CLEO reads aloud when you press Listen.
  • Nothing else: opening screens, confirming a prepared change, and everything CLEO shows you from your own records are not counted.

Opening, renaming and archiving your past conversations costs nothing either.

When it resets

At the start of each month, in your business's own time zone. The screen names the day: Your usage resets on the first of next month.

Nothing carries over, in either direction.

The warnings along the way

You aren't left to watch a number. CLEO says one calm sentence as you pass each point, once each:

RoughlyWhat CLEO says
70%You’re getting closer to your monthly CLEO usage allowance.
85%You’ve used most of your included CLEO usage this month.
95%You’re very close to your monthly CLEO usage allowance.
ReachedYou’ve reached your included CLEO usage for this month.

The percentage also sits quietly under the Ask CLEO box, as a link to the usage screen.

When the included usage is reached

This is the part worth reading before it happens, because much less stops than people expect.

When you reach your included usage, CLEO keeps everything up to date — your customers, calendar, work and bookings — and anything already prepared can still be confirmed; new questions to CLEO Intelligence resume when your usage resets.

So:

  • Every screen keeps working. Nothing about CLEO's record of your business depends on asking questions.
  • Confirm still works. A change CLEO already prepared can still be approved — confirming has never counted towards usage, and it doesn't stop.
  • New questions pause. CLEO says so directly rather than failing quietly: it can't take on new questions until the allowance refreshes at the start of next month, and everything else is still yours to use.

Two states that look similar

  • CLEO Intelligence isn’t turned on for this business yet, so there is no usage to show. — there's no meter because questions were never switched on. Different from running out.
  • CLEO Intelligence isn't available just now — a temporary problem rather than a limit. Everything on your screens is still current, and anything I’ve already prepared can still be confirmed — try again shortly.

Keeping usage low, if you want to

Not something most businesses need to think about, but if you do:

  • Ask one clear question rather than several vague ones — a named person or job costs the same as a broad sweep and answers better.
  • Read on screen what you don't need to ask. Find this in CLEO under an answer shows you where that reading lives.
  • Set Read replies aloud to only when you press Listen, so nothing is spoken you didn't want.

If Ask CLEO is missing altogether, that's a different thing: it has been switched off. Turning parts of CLEO on and off explains the switches.
